With Entourage star Emmanuelle Chriqui recently joining the Superman and Lois cast as Clark Kent’s childhood sweetheart and long time friend Lana Lang, fans have been debating whether Chriqui will live up to Smallville’s Lana, Kristin Kreuk.
Kreuk played the role for eight seasons during Smallville’s run throughout the 2000s and established the character as a firm favorite within the Superman mythos.
Kreuk left a lasting impression on the character, but the actress is excited to see someone else take on the role, she told TV Line.
“The idea of seeing Lana’s legacy live on is great. I don’t know a ton about the show, but it sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun.
“She’s a great character, and with the freedom that’s afforded creators right now in regards to comic book characters, I think they can adjust and adapt her into a more modern position in the world.”
Kreuk went on to talk about the idea of this older iteration of the character being very different from the one she played in Smallville.
“I imagine that Lana is a very different character in a different universe. I am excited to… hear about how the show portrays her. She’s an interesting character in the canon, so having her be in a predominant role on this new show is awesome.”
It remains to be seen on how Chriqui’s Lana will turn out, but she’ll have some incredibly big shoes to fill. Kreuk’s Lana is an entire generation’s definitive version of the character so let’s up Chriqui has a similar impact on the latest generation of comic book fans.
