Henry Cavill is currently negotiating a deal to reprise his role as DC Comics’ Superman within the DCEU.
According to Deadline, Cavill is in talks with Warner Bros to return as Superman – despite there currently being no announced plans for a Man of Steel sequel.
Cavill’s Superman has been one of the bright sparks throughout the DCEU so far and having seemingly moved on from the role after 2017’s Justice League, Cavill surprised fans all over the world when he appeared during Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel watch party last week, before it was announced the Snydercut would be heading to HBO Max.
Having played Clark Kent in Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman and Justice League, we’re set to see more of Cavill in director Zack Snyder’s Snydercut when it is released on HBO Max next year.
Speculation has already begun on where Cavill could appear next, with Wonder Woman 1984 and Suicide Squad pretty much done, it’s hard to imagine he’ll show up in either of those, but he may appear in Black Adam, Aquaman 2 or even Shazam 2. Superman appeared in a cameo role at the end of the first Shazam movie – and while it was only a body double – the sequel could play up on Supes’ appearance and bring Cavill into the fold for the sequel.
