Five Things to Look Forward to in the Snydercut

With Zack Snyder’s vision of the 2017 movie Justice League finally set to come into fruition, DC fans have gone into a frenzy speculating about how Snyder’s original plan for the DCEU could play out.

Throughout the years since Joss Whedon’s revised version of the movie was released, Snyder has sporadically released numerous details about his original cut of the movie, only intensifying the fans and their desire to see it more.

Here are five of the most exciting things to look forward to in the Snydercut.

Martian Manhunter

One of the most powerful members of the Justice League, Martian Manhunter will reportedly make his movie debut in the Snydercut with it recently being reported that Harry Lennix’s General Swanwick – who featured in Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman – was secretly J’onn J’onzz in disguise.

Snyder released storyboards from his original plan for the movie where we saw a scene between Lois Lane and Martha Kent, before Martha transformed into Martian Manhunter and then back into General Swanwick, but unfortunately, the J’onn J’onzz appearance didn’t make it into Whedon’s Justice League so I’m looking forward to finally seeing Martian Manhunter reveal himself in the Snydercut.

Black Suit Superman

One of the most disappointing things about Whedon’s Justice League, to me, is how lackluster Superman’s return was.

Having died in his clash with Doomsday during Batman vs. Superman, it was almost inevitable that the Man of Steel would be resurrected during the events of Justice League, but with many speculating how Clark Kent would return, what we got to see was a huge disappointment.

So, Zack Snyder’s reveal that Superman was originally going to return in the black Superman suit – seen in the ‘Reign of Supermen’ comic that featured Superman’s revival – has a lot of fans eagerly anticipating the opportunity to see how Snyder intends to deal with the return of Superman.

Cyborg’s Pivotal Role in the Movie

Undoubtedly the character who suffered the most from Whedon’s revised version of Snyder’s movie was Cyborg. Originally, Victor Stone was set to be at the heart of the movie and Snyder has shared numerous details over time that backs all that up.

Stone’s emotional journey as he comes to terms with becoming Cyborg was a focal point in Zack Snyder’s intended movie and it was heartbreaking to see him reduced to a supporting role, with next to no emotional weight afforded to the character. I can’t wait to see how Cyborg’s journey will play out in the Snydercut and am relieved the character will finally get what he’s owed.

Green Lantern

According to ComicBookMovie.com Kevin Smith revealed that the Green Lantern Corps played a huge part in the Snydercut.

While it’s currently unknown which members of the Green Lantern Corps are set to feature, any attempt at righting a lot of the damage done to the Green Lantern’s popularity following the poorly received Ryan Reynolds’ movie is good with me!

Darkseid

Without a doubt, one of the most intriguing aspects of the Snydercut is the arrival of Darkseid. One of the biggest criticisms from Whedon’s Justice League was Steppenwolf as the main villain. Many thought Steppenwolf just didn’t feel like a big enough threat for the Justice League so what better way to right those wrongs than bringing in Steppenwolf’s nephew and the ultimate Justice League villain, Darkseid.

Having only one live action appearance to date, in Smallville, Darkseid’s debut in the Snydercut is something many fans will be extremely excited about and it’s not hard to see why.

Darkseid is the ultimate baddy, Marvel’s Thanos was even based on the DC villain so expectations are high for his introduction and rightfully so.
