After many DC fans were disappointed with 2017’s Justice League and the way it stepped away from the story Zack Snyder had been telling in his previous two movies in the universe, many called for Snyder’s version of the movie to be released.
It led to many online protests and a campaign that was supported by many of the film’s stars such as Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck and Jason Momoa that became affectionately known as the #ReleasetheSnydercut movement.
It seems that after several years of some pretty persistent fan backlash, the Zack Snyder’s original vision for the movie is set to be released as HBO Max have announced the movie will debut on their streaming service in 2021.
Snyder’s version of the movie is said to feature Martian Manhunter, Darkseid and even some Green Lantern. The Snydercut is also said to hold Cyborg at the emotional centre of the movie, which the final product discarded.
“I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for making this a reality,” said Snyder.
“Since I got here 14 months ago, the chant to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut has been a daily drumbeat in our offices and inboxes. Well, the fans have asked, and we are thrilled to finally deliver. At the end of the day, it really is all about them and we are beyond excited to be able to release Zack’s ultimate vision for this film in 2021. This could never have happened if it weren’t for the hard work and combined efforts of the teams at HBO Max and Warner Bros. Pictures,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, Warner Media Entertainment and Direct-To-Consumer.
The movie is sure to garner HBO Max an incredible amount of views as many fans will clamor to see the culmination of Snyder’s vision, at long last.
